Maskey welcomes meeting between Ballymurphy Massacre families and An Taoiseach
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has welcomed this morning’s meeting by An Taoiseach with the Ballymurphy Massacre families.
The West Belfast MP said:
“Along with local Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan I attended this morning’s meeting between An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the Ballymurphy Massacre families.
“This was a welcome development and I know the families appreciate An Taoiseach coming to West Belfast to meet them.
“The meeting were very useful and the families pressed Enda Kenny to put pressure on the British government to hold a Hillsborough style inquiry into the murder of their loved ones.
“It is more than 40 years after 11 Irish citizens were gunned down on the streets of Ballymurphy by the British Army. It is imperative that the families receive justice and the truth about this massacre and An Taoiseach needs to do all he can to bring that about.”
