'Lets's Go Mental’ – a great youth initiative for positive mental health - McLellan

22 April, 2015

Speaking today after attending Comhairle na nOg's  'Let's Go Mental' national launch, which aims to promote positive mental health for teenagers through music, sport and the arts, Sinn Fein spokesperson for children Deputy Sandra McLellan has praised the initiative.

McLellan said:

"I was delighted to hear today more about Comhairle na nOg's initiative around the promotion of well-being and the positive mental health of young people.

“We all know someone affected by depression, or who struggles with issues at some time or another. We need to continue tackling the stigma associated with mental health issues.

“Talking openly about the issues with both young and old will aid that much needed progression.

I'm delighted this initiative has been thought up by young people, for young people. 'Let's Go Mental' is a creative project which will be formed by a series of 31 regional events for teenagers across the state.

“I'd encourage all young people to get involved."
