Sinn Féin wish Heenan family well - Maskey
Sinn Féin’s Paul Maskey said the party fully supports the Heenan family who are travelling to London today to initiate legal proceedings against the British Ministry of Defence and a former senior British army officer General Frank Kitson regarding the murder of Eugene Heenan in 1973.
Paul Maskey said:
“We wish the Heenan family well in their attempt to hold the British government and British army to account for the murder of Eugene Heenan in February 1973.
“As the senior British government military strategist at the time Frank Kitson was instrumental in shaping and implementing counter-insurgency strategy and operations.
“The British government’s policy was to terrorise the nationalist people by working alongside and directing state-controlled loyalist death squads.
“The Heenans lost a member of their family because of this murder campaign.
“By challenging the British MoD they are bringing their case against the puppet masters who were pulling the strings of the death squad which murdered Eugene.”
