Solidarity to the Dublin Bus Strikers- Cllr Sarah Holland
Dublin Sinn Féin Cllr Sarah Holland has today reiterated her support to the striking Bus Eireann and Dublin Bus workers.
Cllr Holland said:
“The drivers are striking against privatisation. They deserve our support as they are at the front line of protecting this public service.
Handing 10% of the routes over to private operators would be a precursor to privatisation of the entire service, as has happened in Waterford.
Private operators would have carte blanche to cut routes which may be socially important, but which may not be viewed as profitable.
One of the routes up for consideration is the 75, which transports countless students over to ITT from across south Dublin.
Our buses are a public service and should be kept as such.
For this reason, I give my full support to the drivers and urge everyone to do the same”
