McDonald leads Sinn Féin delegation to May Day conference
Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald has led a party delegation to today’s May Day Conference organised by the Trade Unions affiliated to the Right2Water Campaign.
The conference will be attended by Trade Unions, Community Organisations and parties of the left.
Speaking ahead of the conference, Deputy McDonald said:
“Sinn Féin wants to work with the Trade Unions, community organisations and other parties of the left to champion anti-austerity policies and to help deliver a fair economic recovery.
“On that basis we welcome today’s conference and look forward to contributing positively to the discussions and deliberations.
“The next general election provides the people with the opportunity, for the first time since the foundation of the state, to elect a strong, anti-austerity, progressive government that is led by neither Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.
“It is Sinn Féin’s aim to lead such a government.”
