“With over 5000 people on waiting list in Dublin North Central, 62 houses are not enough”- Denise Mitchell
Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor for the Beaumont-Donaghmeade ward Denise Mitchell has criticised the government’s social housing plans for North Central area.
Speaking today Cllr Mitchell said:
“While I give a cautious welcome for plans for 62 social housing units come on stream in Bunratty, this is a mere drop in the ocean compared to what is needed for the area.
The housing waiting list in my area is still unacceptably high. There are over 5000 people waiting for adequate housing in my area and 62 units won’t make a dent in this.
While this government plans to spend €1.2 billion subsidising private landlords, Sinn Féin believe that social housing construction through local authorities is the only solution to our housing crisis."
