Cllr Chris Curran proposes a new LUAS stop at Samuel Beckett Civic Centre
Sinn Féin councillor representing the Glencullen Sandyford Area Chris Curran has put forward to motion for the council to liaise with the RPA for the addition of a new LUAS stop at the Samuel Beckett Civic Centre.
Cllr Curran said:
"Given the current and expected level of investment, the addition of the civic centre and Gealscoile Shliabh Rua in the area, it makes sense for the facilities to be as accessible as possible."
The motion states that:
"A new LUAS stop would greatly enhance access to the civic centre, provide more appropriate and direct access to the school as well as alleviating the concerns of residents at Ballyogan Wood."
"The residents of Ballyogan have been looking for traffic calming measures for years. There's little doubt that the absence of direct public transport access to the centre would see an increased traffic-flow on Ballyogan Avenue. Furthermore, a new LUAS stop would embed the amenities, not just into the local area but for anybody on the Green Line LUAS. It would also greatly improve the financial viability of the new sports facilities and swimming pool.
