Staffing levels critical in Dùn Laoghaire Rathdown County Council- Cllr Curran
Sinn Féin councillor Chris Curran is calling on government to lift the employment embargo on county councils across the country, as staffing levels continue to drop in Dún Laoghaire.
“I'm beginning to hear more and more responses from council officials that the services aren't being delivered due to staff shortages" said Curran.
Cllr Curran continued:
“I'm receiving reports of staff retirements, council employees taking additional responsibilities leaving the council's staffing levels over-stretched and dangerously depleted.
Furthermore such reduced human resources only serves to effect service delivery levels and place stress on the already overburdened departments.
Because of the council's inability to deliver its service, citizens are losing out. The embargo is beginning to effect the health and safety of those at work.
The welfare of workers is critical, the problem is avoidable and needs to be dealt with immediately.”
