Sinn Féin mobilise for day of action against water charges- Ó Snodaigh
As Sinn Féin activists across the county mobilise for a Day of Action on water charges, Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh has characterised government proposals to deduct Water Charges from people’s wages as,” the latest devious move” from the coalition government.
Speaking ahead of the Day of Action taking place tomorrow the Dublin South Central TDsaid:
“As this government moves ahead with the introduction of water charges Sinn Féin activists will be out on pickets, stalls and protests as we peacefully demonstrate our opposition to this unfair tax.”
For many citizens the water tax was the last straw after years of austerity.
To make matters worse this week the government announced that it will pickpocket its citizens, as people’s bank accounts, pensions, social welfare payments, wages and rent payments will now be raided in order to meet unpaid bills.
This government’s proposed use of attachment orders will hardly stop at water bills so where will it end?
Water charges is a red line issue for us. If elected to government Sinn Féin will abolish water charges and the toxic entity of Irish Water.
So I call on anyone opposed to water charges to join us at stalls and demonstrations to show to this government that there is another way.”
