Minister Kelly has released no funding for homelessness in Dublin City-Cllr. Doolan
It was revealed at tonight’s Dublin City Council meeting that the Department of Environment Community and Local Government has not released any funding for homelessness to Dublin City Council.
This was revealed in answers to Cllr. Daithí Doolan, a member of the Housing SPC.
Cllr. Doolan said:
"It is shocking that we have yet to receive any funding for homeless, housing or for putting voids back into use.
This is despite Minister Kelly having made several announcements to the contrary.
Despite all the spin from the government, Dublin City Council is still waiting for this much needed funding.
Minister Kelly continues on his road trip announcing that billions has been made available to tackle homelessness and to build social housing but nothing could be further from the truth.
Dublin is facing a housing crisis of unprecedented proportions but this government is sleep walking through this problem.
Meanwhile it is the citizens on housing lists and forced in to homelessness that continue to suffer.
Minister Kelly must release the promised funding immediately and let this council get on with tackling the housing crisis."
