No JobBridge interns hired after placement in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council- Cllr Shane O’Brien
Dún Laoghaire Rathdown councillor Shane O'Brien has questioned Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council about its use of the JobBridge programme and was appalled to discover that of the 25 people that have been JobBridge interns with the council since 2011 not one intern has gained employment.
Speaking tonight Cllr O'Brien said:
“These figures further demonstrate that the JobBridge scheme is not fit for purpose and should be scrapped immediately.
This scheme has reduced the number of real job opportunities available and seems to be used as a tool to manage live register figures by the Department of Social Protection.
The programme is exploitative and Sinn Féin’s alternative proposals include a substantial increase in the range of apprenticeships available that would not displace paid in-work training or jobs.
Sinn Féin is committed to implementing a fair recovery for all, including decent work for decent pay.”
