Carlow Kilkenny should seize opportunity to spark profound political change – Doherty
Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty has said that the people of Carlow Kilkenny should seize the opportunity to spark profound political change by voting for Kathleen Funchion in the by-election next Friday.
Deputy Doherty, made the comments as the Sinn Féin Ard Chomhairle met in Kilkenny this morning.
"The people of Carlow Kilkenny have the opportunity to chart a new course and political direction for this state. The result of this election will resound far beyond the borders of the constituency.
"Austerity has been brutal, unfair and increased inequality. Sinn Féin is committed to building a fair recovery that delivers equality, opportunity and prosperity.
"A fair recovery is something that is badly needed in this constituency. The housing crisis has taken its toll in both counties. Services in hospitals here are being undermined by cuts that have targeted frontline operations. Rural communities in Carlow and Kilkenny are being decimated by the actions of a government that treat those who live in our towns and village as second class citizens.
Next Friday the people of Carlow Kilkenny can vote for change, vote for a new approach and vote for a candidate who will stand up for the constituency. Next Friday the voters can elect Kathleen Function to the Dáil.”
