New LED lights for four Lucan Estates- Cllr Danny O’Brien
Sinn Féin councillor Danny O’Brien welcomes the announcement of funding for new LED lights for Lucan. South Dublin County Council has announced €700,000 in funding for new LED lights across the county, with four estates in Lucan benefitting from these new lights this year.
The estates in Lucan are Lucan Heights. Sarsfield Park, Roselawn and Ballydowd Grove where a total of 99 new lights will be installed.
Speaking today Cllr O’Brien said:
“As a member of the Environment Strategic Policy Committee I would like to welcome this move by SDCC. These new LED lanterns use significantly less energy compared to existing conventional streetlights. In addition they have a lifetime in excess of 15 years delivering immediate savings of over €60,000 per year in lower energy and maintenance costs.
SDCC is leading the way on installing this technology and I will push for more funding for the Lucan and Palmerstown, to upgrade the street lights in the area.”
