Boylan welcomes completion date for Armagh city centre road works
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan has welcomed news that major road and sewerage works in Armagh city centre will be completed by early June.
The Newry and Armagh MLA said;
"Traders in Armagh city centre have raised concerns about the impact that ongoing road works at the Friary Road/Newry Road junction and sewerage works at The Mall have had on their businesses.
"I asked the Roads Minister for an update when these works will be finished given the challenges they pose to the local business community and road users alike.
"These road works are now two months past their completion date.
"While I understand and welcome the improvements these works will undeniably bring, it is worrying that people in Armagh are suffering in the meantime.
"The inconvenience, disruptions and traffic congestion has been a bone of contention with both road users and business alike.
"I welcome the fact that the minister has given a completion date of early June for these improvements.
"I am sure that motorists, cyclists and businesses will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the reduced congestion will lead to more reliable journey times and traffic flow."
