We must support nurse’s work to rule at Beaumont Hospital-Cllr Denise Mitchell
Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor Denise Mitchell has thrown her support behind the nurse’s work to rule industrial action set to take place in June at Beaumont Hospital.
Commenting today on the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) decision to serve notice of industrial action on the management of Beaumont Hospital, Cllr Mitchell said:
“The INMO decided on this course of action due to the unsafe conditions at A&E. This includes the recent closure of 33 beds, ongoing staffing shortages, overcrowding and delayed discharges.
“Yesterday there were 33 citizens on trolleys in Beaumont. This situation is damaging for both staff and patients.
“There is no point in pretending otherwise. The health service needs investment in frontline services. The hiring of additional nurses must be a priority.
“The onus now rests on Minister Varadkar to step and prioritise finding a resolution to this problem.”
