Ó hÓisín welcomes significant interest in Ballykelly DARD site
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hÓisín has welcomed the latest progress on the relocation of the Department of Agriculture and Regional Development headquarters to Ballykelly.
The East Derry MLA said;
"I asked my party colleague Agriculture minister Michelle O'Neill for an update on the relocation of the DARD headquarters to Ballykelly in the Assembly today.
"The minister responded by saying that since the official announcement of the relocation to Ballykelly, there has been significant interest in the site from other sources.
"That would mean that as long as the 800 jobs come with the DARD headquarters, the area could benefit from thousands of other jobs as well.
"Minister O'Neill told the Assembly that many businesses had already expressed interest in the site. And given its great location and transport links, I would be hopeful this interest will translate to a further significant employment boost for the area.
"The relocation of the DARD headquarters to Ballykelly is fantastic news for the area and further evidence of Sinn Féin's commitment to the decentralisation of public sector jobs."
