Sinn Féin Concerned at impact of Aer Lingus Sale on North County Dublin - Louise O Reilly
Sinn Féin election candidate for Dublin Fingal, Louise O Reilly, has criticised the government's decision to sell its stake in Aer Lingus.
Ms O Reilly said:
“Sinn Féin opposed the sale originally and we see now the completion by Labour and Fine Gael of the project started by Fianna Fáil.
“The abandonment of Aer Lingus by the government puts up to 1200 jobs at risk and has the potential to damage the economy of Fingal.
"At best this deal will save the vital Heathrow slots for several months or maybe years but ultimately we will lose control and these slots could end up being used for other routes.
“Following the takeover of Iberia by IAG 4500 jobs were lost - if this is replicated in Aer Lingus this has the potential to put up to 1200 jobs at risk.
“The people and businesses of Fingal cannot sustain the loss of these jobs and the consequent impact on local businesses."
