Tory cuts have caused current political crisis - Adams

2 June, 2015 - by Gerry Adams

Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD said today that British Tory cuts to public services in the north had caused the current political crisis.

Gerry Adams said:

“This crisis has been brought about by British Tory austerity policies and their impact on frontline public services in the North.

“Sinn Féin’s primary objective is to deliver for the community and to achieve a resolution to the challenges facing the Executive.

“However Theresa Villiers is clearly indicating that the Tory party do not want to address the key issues or even accept their role in provoking this crisis.

“She refuses to disclose the impact of a further £25 billion of Tory cuts.

“It is a matter of disappointment that Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan supported this position.

“The reality is the Executive needs a working budget. It does not have this at this time.

“The British Government is also in default of the Good Friday Agreement if it acts on its threat to repeal the Human Rights Act and its failure to introduce a Bill of Rights and in the case if the Irish government its failure to bring forward a Charter of Rights.”
