Ní Chuilín welcomes progress on Ulster Canal project
Sinn Féin MLA and Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has welcomed progress on the Ulster Canal development.
Ms Ní Chuilín said;
"At today's meeting of the North South Ministerial Council in Dublin I was pleased to report on the latest progress in the redevelopment of the Ulster Canal.
"Working with the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, this project is being taken forward as a joint venture between her department and my own Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure under the auspices of the North South Implementation Body.
"This north south project is key to supporting and boosting tourism along the route and, when completed, will bring increased numbers of visitors.
"Work is already underway to redevelop large sections of the historic canal with support from both administrations.
"This is a positive example of all-Ireland working and I look forward, through close co-operation with our southern counterparts, to future progress."
