PSNI must provide documents to Roseann Mallon inquest

17 June, 2015 - by Bronwyn McGahan

Sinn Féin MLA Bronwyn McGahan has said that all relevant documentation must be provided to the coroner court in the inquest of Roseann Mallon.

 Ms. McGahan said,

“The comments by the coroner today that the PSNI excuses for not providing documents with information on the murder of Roseann Mallon were "like reading Alice in Wonderland" sums up the attitude of the British state to this and other inquests dealing with state killings and those involving Unionist paramilitaries.

“The recent programmes from RTE and Panorama on the running of Unionist murder gangs only reinforces the opinion that the British state is now preventing the truth coming to light by withholding key information.

“The family of Roseann Mallon have campaigned for years with dignity for the truth and today they are still facing barriers.

“The PSNI must now bring forward all relevant information requested by the coroner so that the family can finally get the inquest finished.

“I, along with my Sinn Féin colleagues, will continue to support this family until the truth about the death of their mother is finally made known.”
