Glenbawn incidents had potential to be fatal

21 June, 2015 - by Stephen Magennis

Sinn Féin Councillor Stephen Magennis has said that two incidents in the Glenbawn area of Poleglass had the potential to cause fatal injuries.

 Mr Magennis said,

“In the early hours of Saturday morning a family home was attacked when two vehicles including a multi seater taxi parked along side the house were set alight.

“The family were asleep and only for the family pet dog barking raising the alarm I dread to think of the consequences if the house had have caught fire while the children were in bed.

"In fact the lady in the house was burnt in attempting to move one of the vehicles away from the house.

“This was a despicable attack on a young family that not only destroyed their family car but also the mans means of making a living.

“Also late last night a man was taken to hospital with suspected stab wound as he was found bleeding badly in Glenbawn Drive.

“I would like to praise the neighbours who rushed to help and ensured the young man got to hospital quickly which no doubt helped save his life and I hope he makes a full recovery.

“Both of these incidents had the potential to cause death and I would urge anyone with information to bring it forward to the PSNI so that those involved can be brought to justice.”
