Flanagan calls for co-ordinated approach to health provision on border areas
Sinn Féin MLA Phil Flanagan has called for a co-ordinated plan to improve health provision in border areas.
Speaking after a meeting of the North-South Inter-Parliamentary Association at Stormont today, Mr Flanagan said;
"At today's meeting MLAs, TDs and Senators came together to discuss increasing co-operation in health service provision across the island.
"In order to deliver a first-class health service in border areas, elected representatives in Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo, Monaghan, Tyrone and Donegal should work together to co-ordinate health service plans across the region.
"People living along the border corridor should not have to travel to Belfast, Dublin or Galway to access services.
"There is enough of a population in these counties to plan services and have centres of excellence for various specialisms in each of the hospitals in the region to provide first-class services for all citizens close to home."
