1 July, 2015 - by Denise Mitchell

Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor for Beaumont-Donaghmeade ward Denise Mitchell and general election candidate for Dublin North Bay has said that it is a total disgrace that 53 people are waiting on trolleys in Beaumont Hospital today.

Speaking from Beaumont she said,

“Beaumont Hospital today has the highest number of patients waiting on hospital trolleys in the state.

“It is quite clear that the government health strategy is not working.

“Beaumont Hospital is traditionally now becoming the worst in the state when it comes to waiting lists and people on trolleys.

“I recently had to visit Beaumont Hospital and I was shocked by the number of ill patients lying around on trolleys.”

She further added:

“This is a result of a chronic failure by the government to deal with the growing crisis in our hospitals.  We need urgent action before someone dies.

“The key to tackling this problem is more investment, including additional bed capacity and frontline staff recruitment. We need at a minimum 1000 additional nurses and midwives.”
