British government responsible for Executive difficulties - Murphy
Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said the austerity policies of the British government are responsible for the challenges currently facing the Executive.
Mr Murphy said;
"It is nonsense for Theresa Villiers to suggest the political parties in the North are to blame for the current political difficulties facing the Executive.
"The reality is that it is the Tory government at Westminster which is relentlessly pursuing an austerity agenda which is cutting public services and attacking the welfare state.
"Her government have already slashed £1.5 billion from the North's block grant and have indicated that it’s planning further cuts which have been described as 'eye-watering.'
"Theresa Villiers is not some sort of neutral broker in this process, her government’s policies are at the heart of the Executive’s problems.
"Sinn Féin will continue to stand up for the most vulnerable in society and to protect frontline public services by opposing austerity."
