Cllr Devine discusses traffic concerns of local residents beside proposed new children’s hospital
Sinn Féin Cllr Máire Devine and general election candidate for Dublin South Central has attended a meeting with residents from Ceannt Fort/ Mount brown to discuss their concerns regarding the traffic management plans during building of the new hospital and for the hospital afterwards.
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Devine said:
“Despite reassurances from planning team there are strong concerns in the area regarding the traffic management plans especially now with the news that the Coombe Hospital is also expected to transfer onto the same site.
“There are already major traffic and parking problems in the area and they will be exacerbated by the building works which will go on for a number of years.
“This will be a concern once the much- needed hospital is opened given that there aren't enough car parking spaces in the proposals for both staff and hospital visitors.
“The local road network is already constrained enough without adding to it in the way this plan will do. The local Sinn Féin reps remain to be convinced of the traffic management plans and will await the final plans when submitted.
“We will in the meantime work with local communities to ensure they have all the information required to allow them to make a fully informed decision in relation to the hospital.”
