Minister needs to make statement on Nama loans in the North – Adams

3 July, 2015 - by Gerry Adams

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has called for the Minister of Finance to make a statement into the handling by NAMA of the sale of assets to Cerberus.

Teachta Adams said:

“The sale of assets by NAMA to Cerberus was their largest single sale. It included a massive write down in which assets that had been valued in the region of £4 billion were sold for £1.3 billion.

“Sinn Féin has raised this matter in the Assembly and at the Dáil.  Our concern is that yet again tax payers’ money has been gifted to speculators and viable businesses left to the mercy of vulture capitalists. All of these deals have been cloaked in secrecy.

“Give the revelations and allegations over the last 24 hours it is imperative that the Minister of Finance makes a statement on the handling of this sale by NAMA and clarify that the sale was value for money and not open to abuse.”
