Minister Kelly has failed to agree to meeting to discuss homeless funding crisis- Árd Mhéara Ní Dhálaigh
Árd mhéara Bhaile Átha Cliath Críona Ní Dhálaigh has expressed her disappointment that Minister Alan Kelly has not yet set a date for a meeting to discuss the funding crisis for homeless services in Dublin city.
Speaking this afternoon Árd Mhéara Ní Dhálaigh said:
“One of my first acts as Árd mhéara was to write to Minister Kelly to request an urgent meeting with the Minister and a cross party delegation to discuss the €18.5 million deficit in funding for homeless services in Dublin City and, on a broader scale the housing problem in the city generally.
“It is incredibly frustrating not being able to sit down with the Minister to discuss this never mind not being able to get a straight answer on when the much needed funding would be made available.
“As the Dáil prepares for its summer recess I am extremely worried that this problem will be kicked down the road until mid-September.
"I have also written to An Taoiseach expressing my wish to organise a meeting with him.
“The time has passed for platitudes and well-meaning plans.
“We need action, now.”
