Dungiven parade ruling does not recognise good relations – Ó hOisín
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín has said a Parades Commission determination on a hunger strike commemoration in Dungiven does not recognise the good community relations in the town.
Speaking after meeting the Parades Commission to discuss the commemoration, the East Derry MLA said;
"I met the Parades Commission to discuss the application for the commemoration to mark the death of hunger striker Kevin Lynch, which will be held in Dungiven on Sunday.
"We have excellent community relations in Dungiven and we had agreement between the Orange Order and local residents on a recent parade.
"The determination from the Parades Commission, which places a number of restrictions on the commemoration, is not helpful.
"However, we are looking forward to a dignified and respectful commemoration in Dungiven on Sunday to honour the memory of Kevin Lynch."
