Cllr Janice Boylan cautiously welcomes plans to regenerate O’Devaney Gardens
Cllr Janice Boylan has cautiously welcomed preliminary plans to earmark O’Devaney Gardens for housing development.
Speaking following yesterday’s planning and housing policy meeting, Cllr
“I welcome that both city managers have announced that the land at O'Devaney Gardens is to be included alongside land at St. Michaels estate for housing development.
“Both Jim Keogan and Dick Brady told the meeting that interested parties had made contact with Dublin City Council in relation to the redevelopment of the land.
“These parties consisted of approved housing bodies, private developers
“I have been very active in this issue since becoming an elected representative. Everyone knows the future of O'Devaney Gardens is close to my heart.
“The community was decimated by a failed PPP and both myself and Deputy Mary Lou McDonald will do all we can to make sure that any development that takes place reflects the needs of the area and is fully guaranteed to reach completion once the plan is in motion.
“This community has received promises of regeneration in the past that were ultimately broken. I see it as our job to make sure that doesn't ever happen again.”
