Live Register figures rising steadily in Minister Bruton’s back Garden –Councillor Denise Mitchell

20 August, 2015 - by Denise Mitchell

Responding to live register figures for the Coolock area, Local Councillor and General Election candidate for Dublin North Bay Denise Mitchell said that the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton needs to stop crowing about Economic recovery and actually start delivering jobs.

Speaking from Coolock today she said,

“Unemployment in Coolock has risen by 6.5% since April this year and for those under 25 it has risen by 8%.

There has been lots of talk of Economic recovery but none of the people that I meet are experiencing any of this.

People have less money in their pockets due to charges such as the property tax and water charges brought in by this government. “

She further added,

“It is quite clear that the Government do not have an adequate jobs strategy in operation.

The Minster has stood over job losses in his own local area of Coolock including Cadbury’s this year and it simply isn’t good enough.

Communities like Coolock and Darndale are being forgotten about in the rush for pre-election job announcements by him and his fellow government colleagues.

Press Conferences won’t put food on the table, pay the mortgage or buy school books or Uniforms.

He needs to give a clear commitment to the people of Coolock that they haven’t been forgotten about in the race for re-election.”
