Sinn Féin to protest at Custom House tomorrow to highlight housing crisis- Cllr Doolan
Sinn Féin are set to hold a demonstration at the Custom House, Dublin tomorrow between 1pm and 2 to highlight the urgent need to build social housing to resolve the current housing crisis.
Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Dáithi Doolan chair of the housing SPC said:
“The housing crisis is enveloping cities and towns across the state and something has to be done immediately.
“We are protesting, with homeless families, outside the Department of Environment's headquarters tomorrow to demonstrate how severe the problem is across Dublin and to demand Government action.
“Homelessness is an issue affecting too many of our citizens, too many of our children.
“Rent uncertainty and the rising rents is affecting families, students, single parents and young professionals.
“We need action not promises of action. The government needs to stop the blame game and act in cooperation with local authorities and voluntary housing bodies.
“Nothing of substance can be achieved unless we work together.”
