Councillor Denise Mitchell welcomes flood defensive measures at Dollymount beach.

31 August, 2015 - by Denise Mitchell

Dublin North Central Councillor Denise Mitchell and General election candidate for Dublin North Bay has welcomed details from Dublin City Council in relation to Flood defensive measures at Dollymount beach as part of the Sutton 2 Sandycove promenade and Cycleway scheme.

She said:

“Residents and Visitors to Dollymount beach have long been affected by flooding in the area.

The works will include a heightening of the existing sea wall to ensure statutory minimum levels of flood defence are maintained.

The wall will be adjusted at the Wooden Bridge to Seafield road east junction, Seafield road east junction to Dollymount Avenue junction, Dollymount Avenue Junction to Mount Prospect Avenue Junction and finally Mount Prospect Avenue to St. Anne’s Carpark.”

It is great to see these works commence and I’ve no doubt it will give some relief to residents who have had to ensure years of damage to their homes and property because of the flooding in this area.”
