Seán Crowe TD addresses rally in support of refugees in Dublin
The Sinn Féin spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Seán Crowe TD has addressed a rally in support of refugees in Dublin.
“Europe is facing the biggest refugee crisis it has faced since World War 2.
we have no real workable legal route into Europe and a bureaucracy that
thrives on telling people where they cannot go and where they cannot stay.
“Most of you will have been aware of the scale of the refugee crisis for many months and years before now, but the photos of the 3 year old Alan Kurdi whose dead body washed up on a Turkish beach collectively
shocked the world.
“The huge solidarity and support that we have seen from the Irish people since then has been amazing. We need to harvest that support and ensure that we have a collective, united and community led approach to the refugees that will be resettled in Ireland.
“A small minority are attempting to use this crisis to spread fear, racism, sectarianism and hate. We all have a collective duty to challenge these hate filled lies head on and this solidarity rally is just one of those methods, as well as sending a strong message of compassion to those fleeing this brutal war and unimaginable circumstances.

“I hope that the warmth and support that is clearly evident throughout Ireland is built upon and that we use this small window of opportunity to begin to do things differently in Ireland.”
