DUP more interested in election stunts than rural communities – Milne
Sinn Féin MLA Ian Milne has stated that DUP posturing has left the farming community baffled.
Speaking after only DUP MLA turned up to the Assembly chamber at Stormont to debate the dairy crisis in farming Mr Milne said:
“Today’s business in the Assembly chamber had a clear focus on rural needs and the development of farming communities.
“However the DUP’s posturing left whole swathes of these communities unrepresented.
“Only one DUP MLA out of 38 turned up to debate the current dairy crisis. Only one DUP MLA attended Ministerial question time and asked no questions at a time when the agricultural industry is in crisis.
“DUP MLAs then took no part in a debate on rural poverty only to come in en masse to vote against the motion.
“Clearly the DUP are more interested in engaging in stunts as part of its electoral battle with the UUP than representing the farming and rural communities which mandated them.”
