A vote for Labour is a vote for Fine Gael - Adams

15 September, 2015 - by Gerry Adams

Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD has said that Labour Leader Joan Burton has confirmed that a vote for Labour is a vote for Fine Gael.

Gerry Adams said:

"Labour Party Leader Joan Burton has this morning confirmed that a vote for Labour at the next election is a vote for a Fine Gael-led Government.

"This will come as no surprise to citizens who have suffered as a result of Labour's actions in Government.

"The failure of Labour in Government has been stark.

"Labour Party figures continually tell us that they are there to put the brakes on Fine Gael's right-wing impulse, but the evidence tells us the opposite.

"Labour Ministers have been the most enthusiastic proponents of vicious cuts to the welfare of ordinary families.

“As a senior Cabinet member, Joan Burton oversaw the implementation of water charges, the property tax, cuts to child benefit, removal of medical cards, cuts to health and welfare, and a succession of stealth taxes.

"Budgets under this Government have been the most unfair and unequal since the economic crash.

“Most people no longer see any point of having the Labour Party in Government.

“The choice at the next election is between a continuation of the failed politics of austerity advocated by Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Labour, or Sinn Féin’s fairer alternative based on equality and social justice.”
