Estates in Glasnevin swamped with learner driver schools of motoring- Cllr Reilly
Dublin City Council Sinn Féin Councillor Noeleen Reilly has raised concerns about the number of learner driver companies using Willow Park and Pinewood estate in Glasnevin.
“While I was there this morning residents raised concerns with me about the number of companies using their estate to teach people how to drive.
"I myself saw five different companies in an hour period with several different cars from the same school using the estate.
"These are very quiet estates and this is causing lot unease for residents. It’s the sheer volume of them that is troubling residents.
"The area is being used to practise emergency stops, three point turns and reverse parking.”
She further added,
“Not only are the companies using the estate but also learner drivers are coming back without instructors and practising on the roads.
"This is leaving the area very congested and sometimes the roads are often blocked for periods of time.
"Of course people need somewhere to learn how to drive but consistently using the same estate is really unfair on the residents.
"Dublin City Council need to come up with a traffic plan where estate like this are not getting swamped."
