21 September, 2015 - by Mairead O’Donnell

Sinn Féin Councillor Niall Ó Donnghaile has commended the families of loyalist murder victims John Devine and John O'Hara for the dignity and fortitude they have shown in pursuing the truth.

Niall Ó Donnghaile was speaking from the Short Strand where John O Hara was from after it was revealed that the PSNI is to reopen investigations into their killings.

Speaking today Cllr Ó Donnghaile said:

“The killings by loyalists of John Devine and John O'Hara have left a deep and lasting wound with their families.

“This has been compounded with no one being brought to justice for these murders.

“The PSNI is to re-open these investigations following the Legacy Investigation Branch receiving new information.

“I commend the families of those killed for the dignity and fortitude they have shown in pursuing the truth.

“I would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small they think it is, to bring it forward to the PSNI in order to help the families.”
