Public wants openness at NAMA Inquiry – McKay

22 September, 2015

Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has said transparency and accountability should be at the heart of the inquiry into the sale of NAMA's northern loan portfolio.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's sitting of the inquiry, Mr McKay said;

"It is clear to me that all witnesses should be heard in public session at the Finance Committee tomorrow.

"The public wants to see transparency and openness.

"If some political parties have an issue with some of the evidence being put forward then it is up to their committee members to effectively scrutinise the witnesses to see if it stands up.

"Putting witnesses behind closed doors is not a good idea.

"Tomorrow is a test for political transparency and accountability at the NAMA Inquiry and I am confident the majority of committee members will see the need for that to be upheld."
