Trolley Numbers increasing again in Beaumont Hospital -Councillor Denise Mitchell

23 September, 2015 - by Denise Mitchell

Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor for Beaumont-Donaghmeade ward Denise Mitchell and general election candidate for Dublin North Bay has said that it is unacceptable that there is 39 people waiting on Trolleys today in Beaumont Hospital.

Speaking from Beaumont she said,

“Beaumont Hospital today has the highest number of patients waiting on hospital trolleys in the state.

“It is quite clear that the government health strategy is not working.  Figures have been increasing again over the last few weeks and I expect this to get worse unless the Minister for Health acts immediately.

“Beaumont Hospital is now becoming the worst in the state when it comes to waiting lists and people on trolleys. It is quite honestly a chaotic state of affairs.

She further added:

“This is a result of a chronic failure by the government to deal with the growing crisis in our hospitals.  We need urgent action before someone dies.

“The key to tackling this problem is more investment, including additional bed capacity and frontline staff recruitment. We need at a minimum 1000 additional nurses and midwives

We need to create an environment where Nurses are valued and adequately remunerated for their work.  No longer can we train our nurses to emigrate.”
