Farm Improvement Scheme to open in October
Sinn Féin MLA Ian Milne has welcomed the announcement that the first stage of the Farm Business Improvement Scheme will begin in October.
Mr Milne, a member of the Agriculture Committee said,
“The Farm Business Improvement Scheme is designed to help farmers be more professional and creative in running their farms including the use of new technologies.
“The Minister has now announced the establishment of the Business Developments Groups for farmers and that applications will open in October for the first tranche of funding and I would call on all farmers to start preparing an application now
“This learning scheme could be the difference between farms struggling to make ends meet or becoming a thriving business by incorporating innovative ideas and technologies making the farm profitable.
“I also welcome the announcement by the Minister that £70m will be available to the LEADER Programme through Local Action Groups and local councils.
“This money is aimed at improving the rural way of life and again I would urge all relevant community groups to get their applications in early.”
