Governments need to step up to the plate in talks – Murphy
Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said that the British and Irish governments need to step up to the plate in the ongoing political talks at Stormont.
Conor Murphy said:
"We have now completed the first week of the talks process.
"A range of issues, budgets, welfare, institutional reform and the legacy of the past have been discussed.
"However the austerity policies of the British government continue to create huge difficulties for the political institutions.
"The British and Irish governments needs to step up to the plate to ensure that the Executive has a workable and sustainable budget and to meet their commitments under the Good Friday and other agreements.
"We are in this process to find a resolution to the challenges facing the political institutions and the British and Irish governments should be doing the same."
