Cllr Doolan expresses sadness at latest death of a homeless man on Dublin’s streets
Sinn Féin Dublin city councillor and chair of the housing committee Daithí Doolan has said he is saddened to hear of the death of a homeless man in Dublin city yesterday.
Cllr Doolan said:
“The death yesterday of a homeless man in Dublin is an awful, avoidable tragedy and I express my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
“This is a human tragedy that requires political solutions. The time for talk and promises is long past. We need real action.”
'I am appealing to Minister Kelly to declare the housing crisis an emergency. This will allow the Government take practical steps to provide real solutions to the homeless crisis in Dublin.
“It will give access to essential funding for local authorities to build social housing. It also allows us to speed up the public procurement when issuing contracts to build social housing.'
