Audit of entire Docklands area needed now- Cllr Chris Andrews
Local Sinn Féin councillor for the
Pembroke-South Dock area Chris Andrews has this morning stated that all
buildings in Docklands need to be audited to establish what other buildings
need to be repaired.
Speaking today Cllr Andrews said:
“The reasons for this are twofold.
“Firstly; buildings and owners of
defective buildings need to be protected and secondly those in the Docklands whose
buildings have no issues need to be given a clean bill of health in order to
protect their value.
“The Gallery Quay apartments are still waiting on major repairs to be carried out, so clearly there is a pattern of poor building standards in the Docklands and all buildings need to be audited in the Docklands area as a matter of urgency.
“While the council CEO has recently indicated that here is no immediate risk of residents of Longboat Quay being made homeless as a result of the sub-standard adherence to fire safety regulations, steps must be taken to reassure residents in other Dockland properties.”
