Emergency motion on Longboat Quay submitted to council- Cllr Andrews

1 October, 2015 - by Chris Andrews

Local Sinn Féin councillor for the Pembroke-South Dock area Chris Andrews has welcomed the news that the Dublin Docklands Development Authority will contribute to the serious remedial works needed to the Longboat Quay apartments.

However, he has called on the Minister for the Environment to stump up for the rest of the costs facing the residents.

Cllr Andrews said:
" I have submitted an emergency motion ahead of the council meeting on Monday night that calls on the council executive and all the relevant stakeholders to work together so the residents don't have to pick up the costs.

"I am also reiterating my call for an audit to be completed on all other similar developments in the area and for the urgent need for stronger planning legislation.

"At the centre of this debacle are very concerned residents, who should not have to pay the costs of bad planning.

“Cllr Criona NI Dhalaigh will also be meeting the residents on Monday ahead of the council meeting in order to hear their concerns.”
