Need to work together to promote Irish language – McCorley
Sinn Féin Rosie McCorley MLA said joined-up working and thinking was required to promote the Irish language sector.
The party’s Irish Language spokesperson was speaking after an interactive meeting with the Irish Language sector this morning in Carntogher, Co Derry,
Rosie McCorley said:
"I would like to thank all the local groups who made their way to Carntogher today, as well as many of the lead national organisations.
"As would be expected, we covered a wide range of issues today. There was a discussion on the need for an Irish Language Act, legal rights, funding, and on the lack of respect for the language and community from some quarters.
"The meeting recognised the need for joined-up thinking and collaborative working, as well as grass-roots campaigning from the Irish Language sector.
"In terms of Sinn Féin, we will continue to play our role to promote the Irish language and look forward to more opportunities to build on today's engagement."
