McCartney calls on people to attend Palestinian solidarity event
Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney has encouraged as many people as possible to attend a solidarity rally for the people of Palestine in Derry on Wednesday.
Mr McCartney said;
"Over the last two weeks at least 24 Palestinians have been shot dead by Israelis with hundreds more injured.
"The brutality of the Israeli military's treatment of Palestinians has been captured by social media and is truly shocking.
"Palestinian young people in particular have borne the brunt of Israeli military aggression and many of the fatalities and casualties have been children and young people.
"Ógra Shinn Féin in Derry have organised a solidarity vigil for the people of Palestine at Free Derry Corner for Wednesday night at 7pm.
"It is important as many people as possible attend this solidarity rally to send a message to Israel and the wider international community that this is unacceptable.
"The international community has a key responsibility to support the Palestinian people and challenge Israeli aggression."
