Mary Lou McDonald welcomes agreement on Croke Villas development
Sinn Féin’s Dublin Central TD Mary Lou McDonald has welcomed the agreement between Dublin City Council and Croke Park on the development of Croke Villas.
Speaking today Deputy McDonald said:
“I welcome this agreement on the joint development between Dublin City Council and Croke Park. This development will see an investment of €6.4 million into the North Inner City.
“The development includes a plan for social housing with the redevelopment of Croke Villas, the development of multi unit dwellings on the Ballybough Road and a new infill housing development on Sackville Avenue.
“This investment is long overdue and it will regenerate a community that has been neglected for years.
"There will also be a main entrance into Croke Park for games and events which will ease the inconvenience for residents living in the surrounding area.
“The provision of a sports complex will be an asset for the local area and offers a great facility for local people and local youth clubs.
“Dublin Central is an area of high unemployment; this development will benefit the local community by providing employment opportunities, which is vital to any area where works are to be carried out.
“I am hoping that the work on this project will commence without further delay.”
