Doherty calls on Irish government to honour A5 commitment
Sinn Féin MP Pat Doherty has called on the Irish government to honour its commitment to provide £50m for the A5 upgrade project.
Mr Doherty said;
"Following Enda Kenny's comments yesterday we want to see the commitment on funding for the A5 given by the Irish government in the Stormont House Agreement last Christmas honoured.
"At that stage the Irish government committed £50m to the project and I welcome the confirmation from the Taoiseach yesterday that he will continue to honour that commitment.
"We now need to see this funding in place so that this vital infrastructural project, which will help transform the economy of the entire north west region, taken forward.
"Sinn Féin is committed to ensuring that this essential upgrade of the A5 goes ahead as soon as possible."
