Agreement will help construction industry - Murphy
Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said the Fresh Start Agreement offers an opportunity to advance major infrastructural projects which will help the construction industry.
Speaking after a meeting today with the Construction Employers Federation, which represents 800 companies across the North, Conor Murphy MLA said:
“As part of our focus on jobs, growth and investment, we were pleased to bring a large group of MLAs to meet with the Federation.
“We share their desire for stability, confidence and a commitment to major capital projects in the time ahead and are pleased that the Fresh Start Agreement gives us an opportunity to speed up infrastructural projects.”
The Sinn Féin MLA said the Federation also explored the issue of social clauses and apprenticeships.
“We are determined to do all we can to bring down unemployment levels in underserved communities and especially youth joblessness.
“In that regard, we believe social clauses should be written into legislation so that we can build on the progress made in this field to date.”
