McCausland should consider his position as DCAL chair - McMullan
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has said Nelson McCausland should consider his position as chair of the Culture, Arts and Leisure committee.
Mr McMullan said;
"At this morning's meeting of the Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee Sinn Fein MLAs wanted to question representatives of a forum representing loyalist bands on a number of key issues.
"Chair of the committee Nelson McCausland refused to allow my party colleague Rosie McCorley more time to question the bands' forum representative.
"This is not the first time he has attempted to close down debate on issues that don't suit his own political views.
"He is clearly using his position as chairperson of the committee for his own political ends rather than ensuring that it meets its proper function of providing scrutiny.
"It has got to the point where he should now consider his position as chair of the committee.
"Committees should be used for scrutiny, not as political vanity projects."
